Once again, the we have been eliminated from the playoffs.  The best hitting in the AL, best pitching in the AL, and we get eliminated in the first round.  Just goes to show that the playoffs are a crapshoot.  While the Mariners are arguably the most successful franchise in the WLFB, and have won the division for 9 straight years, we have only won 3 World Series titles.

Questions about the teams age are going to start popping up over the next year.  Kevin Millwood and Carlos Beltran are both likely to retire at the end of the year.  Jackson Melian is getting up there in age.  The "core" of my team that has gotten me this far (Stokes, Ortiz, Teixeira, Winn, Sheets, Meisenheimer, Burnett, Narveson, Spooneybarger) will all be 30 or older next year.  While I have some good looking prospects, that question is are they going to be good enough to carry my team when these guys start to fade?  Some of my recent prospects have looked really good (Swisher, for example) but some of them have been complete busts (McDux).  How will guys like Hermida, Barfield, Wilson, and Stauffer do in the league?  Is it time to trade the team and rebuild with prospects and draft picks?  A suspect that I could trade most of the players and get at least 6 more draft 1st round draft picks over the next 3 years, giving me something around 14 1st round ammy picks.  That would be a good way to start a new team.

I will probably have to wait to see who retires, and how my current players age.  Regardless, it is getting close to the time when I will have to blow the team up.  I am not looking forward to that, let me tell you.
